South Durrës – Golem & Qerret Area

Located just south of the city of Durrës, the South Durrës area includes the popular coastal destinations of Golem and Qerret.
Although these areas belong administratively to Kavajë Municipality, which is part of Tirana County, they are geographically and culturally much closer to Durrës. For many visitors, Golem and Qerret feel like a natural continuation of the Durrës Riviera — the same coastline, the same sea, and the same vibrant summer atmosphere.

Both Golem and Qerret are among Albania’s most visited beach areas. Golem is known for its long stretch of sandy beaches, lively promenade, and large seaside resorts that attract thousands of visitors every summer. Just a few minutes further south, Qerret offers a more peaceful setting, surrounded by pine forests and modern hotels, ideal for families and couples looking for relaxation and nature.

Because of their proximity to Durrës, many locals and tourists staying in the city often choose to spend the day or their entire vacation in Golem or Qerret. The area has excellent access by road and public transport, with regular buses and taxis connecting it directly to Durrës.
